Family Guy Blue Harvest

1. 3 Cultural References:

a) One of the Empire's Star Destroyers has a Bush - Cheney campaign bumper sticker on it, which is a reference to former president George W. Bush's re-election campaign.

b) Luke asks the London Symphony order to play the theme song of "The People's Court".

c) Rush Limbaugh plays a radio commentator, which he also is in real life. In the show, he criticizes liberal media, which he also does in real life.

2. I think that the cultural references in family guy certainly contribute to the meaning of the show, especially because the humor in family guy is in essence, extremely childish. The use of subtle (although usually blatant) cultural references shows that family guy, and its humor, is one big joke.
